Update Rules

Some clarifications about the new rules:

  1. Because of the large number of challenger riders at the races in France, we have decided four years ago to have only one Challenger race. This year it concerns the races at St Etienne and Douai. It is not possible to finish races in two days with so many riders.   Elite and junior riders will run two races as always.
  2. As for registration of National and Trade Teams; the deadline is the same as for St Etienne!  So you have untill 23rd of November to enter.
We will be a little bit flexible and let you can confirm your Team with simply an e-mail. However, the Team manager should give Ilija Kesic a completed form in St Etienne at Saturday 9 o'clock AM. This should be good solution.
  3. Very important for all you riders is; they have to have clear and good to see lateral number plate (white with black number 8X1). All riders can get a correct lateral number plate by organiser.
  4. This and much other info for your Chef d`equipe, by the first Chef d`equipe meeting at Saturday 9 o'clock AM.

Below you find the updated rules of all European BMX Championships and International Races for the season 2008.

There will be no ranking for the Challenge during the Championships Series.

Without Team preregistration on time by UEC your Team will not be allowed to place at Team area :

Ivo Builds A Supertrack!

Latvian Elite rider, Latvia BMX Team Coach and Co-President of the Latvian Association of BMX Clubs , Ivo Lakucs is making new top edge BMX Track in Ventspils, Latvia .

Building the track is a part of Ivo's participation in the Latvian Olympic Unit . The Ventspils Olimpic Center and City Council of Ventspils (4th biggest town of Latvia) in cooperation with Lakucs are planing to su p port the Latvian Olympic BMX team and provide possibilities for youth to race this discipline of cycling in a town that has never before had a BMX track .

A m ore Interesting fact for riders is that the configuration of the track will be unusual even after DEW Tour/UCI Supercross in San J ose . Inspired fom San J ose, Ivo desided to make a big jump over one of the turn s, in a similar manner to the San Jose SX track. T he t rack will be provided with BIG Pro sections, and the Berm Jump will be on the second straight leading out of the Pro Section jumps .

T he t rack will also feature a brand new UCI standar d ProGate .

It seems, that Latvia's BMX enthusiast Lakucs will be making ANOTHER one of the best tracks in Europe , a s lots of European top riders have de c ided that the track in Valmiera made by Ivo and a team of other Latvian riders is one of  best for Elite racing.

This track will be only 7th BMX track in a country with population of only 2,5 mil. Latvia ha s only about 120 licensed riders, but this year it was an "All Latvian" European Elite podium, w h ere it was all proudly occupied by Latvian athletes (Arturs Matisons, Ivo Lakucs, Artis Zentins).

Ventspils is known as a beautiful port t own by the Baltic Sea.

September News

Ilija Kesic
UEC BMX Commission

To all UEC BMX Federations

Unfortunately it was not possible to replace the cancelled Indoor first and second round 2006/7 from Geneva, because we had really not enough time to find a good organizer, and I we are in opinion it's better no race as a bed organized race at all. So please note a following decision as for European Indoor 2006/7:

Here with I would like to make clear confusion by some Federations about European Championships and European Indoor 2008.

  1. There is NO European Indoor 2007/8 at all.
  2. First three or four event (depending of bids number) of European Championships will be placed Indoor and two or three events Outdoor.
  3. You can send your application according to your possibility (Indoor/Outdoor till 15 th of January 2007 to this address: uec.bmx.comm@bluewin.ch
  4. Info meeting for all Federations and Organizer of European Championships 2007 ill be held up at Zwolle. Exactly information will follow late.

If you have a more questions, please don't hesitate to contact me or other member of UEC BMX Commission.

With kind regards

01/09/2006: UCI BMX Permanent Career Numbers assigned

UCI is pleased to announce the permanent career numbers for Elite Men and Elite Women. Please click on the link below to view the current list of numbers. These numbers must be used at all international BMX events worldwide.

Starting with the season 2006-2007 (from 1 August 2006), the UCI is introducing a permanent number system for Elite Men & Elite Women. With this system, riders can choose a “career number”, which they have the exclusive right to use for their entire Elite class career. This will give riders a possibility to market themselves and to give media and spectators an easy way to identify riders.

The UCI permanent number system is solely for the Elite Men & Elite Women class, where any rider with an international license rider can choose a permanent career number from 10 to 999. Number 1 – 8 will be reserved and will be assigned to the top 8 finishers in the previous BMX World Championship, and can be used for the upcoming season.

A chosen number will be exclusive for the rider, and cannot be used by any other elite class (including Junior and Cruiser classes). A chosen number will remain as long as the rider receives UCI points during the season, although the number will be assigned to the rider for 2 additional years (without points) before becoming available again.

Finish system

To all Federation and EC Organisers 2006

Dear Friends,

I would like to clarify some points concerning the European Championship and Challenger Cup 2006.

Last year during European Championship rounds 9 and 10 in Echichens CH we invited all Team Chefs to present a new Photo Finish System. By the presentation we also made clear that all organisers which use this System (the best which we have in the World) don't need Finish Line officials at the track, but they need to have one team on standby. This was also the case in St Mesmin.

Obviously somebody forgot it, and made some troubles at France . This was not necessary, we can not go to each individual Team Chef, if they don't take their own responsibility seriously.

This system will also be used as in Betzingen (D), Haaksbergen (NL) and Sopron (H). Please inform you Chef d`Equp for the next races.

With kind regards

I.Kesic
